Our accessibility status
Navigatr is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Partially conformant means that some parts of the platform do not yet meet the standard. We list those parts under "Known gaps" below. This statement covers the Navigatr platform.
What we have done
We have fixed many of the problems found in our audit of the platform, and the ones still open are listed under "Known gaps". In plain terms:
- Keyboard use and focus. Lists and controls, including the lists in Settings, can be used from the keyboard. The fixed navigation no longer hides the control you have focused. The onboarding dialog manages focus when it opens and closes.
- Target sizes and the map. On the pages we audited, buttons and links meet the minimum target size that WCAG asks for. You can move around the map using the keyboard.
- Screen readers. Most links and controls have names, and most images have text alternatives, except the images under "Known gaps". Lists and chips are marked up so a screen reader announces them as lists, except the checkbox and radio rows under "Known gaps".
- Colour contrast. We have raised the contrast of text and controls that were too faint, including empty-state messages, snackbar buttons, the count on the admin stats bar and the colours organisations choose for their pages.
- Sign-in and register pages. These pages declare their language, so a screen reader reads them in the right voice.
Known gaps
Still to fix
We know about these problems and have not fixed them yet:
- We have not yet audited the badge, pathway and activity editors, dialogs, dashboards and certificates.
- Checkbox and radio rows on the settings pages, and on community and provider settings, have a list-structure fault that screen readers can trip on.
- Some images and icons, such as certain badge images and icons in some dialogs and admin pages, have no text alternative yet, so a screen reader may skip them or read out a file name.
- Some extra information appears only in a tooltip, with nothing on screen to show that it is there.
Where we have chosen not to underline links
In some places, such as inside cards and banners, links inside a block of text are told apart from the text around them by colour alone, with no underline. This is a design decision we have made, not a fault we are still working on. If it stops you reading or using the page, tell us.
Not covered
- Our marketing pages were not part of the audit, which covered the platform.
- Third-party tools that we embed or link to, such as the Intercom chat and the help centre, are outside what we can vouch for. So is content that organisations add, such as badge images and descriptions.
Tell us about a problem
If you find something on Navigatr that you cannot use, please tell us through our help centre.
How we tested
We ran an automated and manual audit on 29 June 2026, using axe-core. It covered the platform's public pages and a sample of signed-in pages, not the marketing site.
