West Yorkshire Police Carr Gate Training Facilities Tour

Earners of this badge have completed a tour of the Police Training Facilities accompanied by trained Police Officers. Tour of the site includes Bishop Garth House, Public Order Arena, The Firearms Ranges and Driver Manoeuvring Area. Earners of this badge have had a talk delivered by the Chief Inspector about their personal journey into the force followed by an engaging Q&A session. Earners have experienced the classroom environment which is required for all entry-level Police officers.

Criteria

Earner has attended a tour of the training facilities at Carr Gate. Accompanied by trained police officers, Earners have gained an insight into the training facilities and classrooms that are available when joining the force.

Earner has familiarised themselves with Bishop Garth House, which is the main training hub for those in the local police force. Earners have been shown where conferences and briefings take place, and break-out rooms for people in police training.

Earner has attended a tour of replicas of facilities and spaces that are frequently present in the career of a police officer such as public houses, taser storage rooms and custody areas. Additionally, Earners have visited the Public Order Arena which has classrooms and briefing rooms to provide practical experiences when joining the force.

Earner has observed live fire training and exercises supported by the latest technology and video imagery. Earner has had a tour of police officers’ training and testing specialist facilities, of which there are very few in the country.

Earner has observed the driver manoeuvring area where a skid car sits on a purpose build remote-controlled frame to allow trainers to recreate a variety of oil-free road conditions.

Earner gained an understanding of the challenges of modern-day policing by attending a tour of the world-class training facilities at Carr Gate.

Earners has attended a talk delivered by the Chief Inspector about their personal journey into the force followed by a Q&A session.
