Understanding the Needs of Babies and Young Children: Babysitting

Earners of this badge have participated in facilitated sessions to understand the basic needs of babies and young children. Through group discussion and set tasks, the badge earners gained skills and knowledge in how to hold and change a child’s nappy safely, how to feed and settle a child if crying, and how to create the right environment for helping a young child get ready to sleep.

Earner has participated in practical group tasks and discussions to better their understanding of the basic needs of babies and young children. They have learnt about how to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of children in their care.

Earner has developed skills in caregiving through practical demonstrations which include how to change a baby’s nappy safely, how to feed and settle a child, and how to help a young child get ready to sleep.

Earner has gained awareness of how to identify appropriate foods for the child's age and ensure they are consumed in a safe manner by taking care of their dietary requirements.
