Earner has demonstrated safeguarding skills by producing a fact sheet of collated information which details their understanding of legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding children and young people.
Earner has demonstrated teamwork, communication, and presentation skills by working with peers to create a power point presentation that explained the importance of using a person-centred approach when safeguarding children and young people. Earners developed their knowledge of partnership working, in the context of safeguarding, by describing the roles and responsibilities of three different organisations that may be involved when a child or young person has been abused or harmed.
Earner understands the need to ensure children and young people’s safety and protection in the learning environment is paramount. Earner has prepared and delivered a presentation and handout to explain how support staff can take steps to protect themselves within their everyday practice in a learning environment and during off-site activities. The presentation explains why children and young people need to be protected from harm within the learning environment and online.
Earner has demonstrated their recording, reporting and planning skills when preparing a handout that explains the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of children and young people in the learning environment. Earners prepared a handout to explain how support staff can take steps to protect themselves within their everyday practice in a learning environment and during off-site activities. The handout also explains why children and young people need to be protected from harm within the learning environment and online.
Earner has learned how to respond to evidence and concerns that a child/young person has been abused/harmed. They also explained child protection within the wider context of safeguarding children & young people, and can now identify the types of abuse and bullying; they have learnt about the possible signs, symptoms, indicators and behaviours that may cause concern in the context of safeguarding. Earners know the actions to take if a child/young person alleges harm/abuse. Earner did a case study.
Earner has demonstrated interpersonal skills. Earner has explained how to work with children & young people to support their well-being by delivering a training session to colleagues. Session included developing a radio broadcast to identify the signs of possible mental health concerns in children & young people and describe the role of support staff in recognising the signs of mental health concerns. Earner has also identified ways support staff can support the development confidence/self-esteem.
