Organisations that have earned this badge have learned what neurodiversity is, the difference between neurodiversity and neurodivergence and how to support people who are neurodivergent.

Criteria

This badge is only available to Students, Members or Employees.

Organisation has participated in a half-day course delivered by ADHD Aware to increase their knowledge of Neurodiversity and Neurodivergence and how this knowledge relates to the management and support of a diverse volunteer team.

Organisation has learned about appropriate language to discuss neurodivergence in order to improve communication with volunteers, staff and visitors to their venue, and discuss any issues that might arise as a result of neurodivergence in an appropriate way.

Organisation has learned about legislation relating to neurodiversity in order to ensure that volunteer policies and procedures adhere to current UK guidelines around discrimination. Organisation has undertaken group discussion to reflect on current provision available for volunteers and how best to communicate this to clarify available support in order to improve diverse recruitment.

Organisation has learned about some of the symptoms of neurodivergence and participated in group discussion around identifying potential triggers and how to respond appropriately.

Organisation has participated in group discussion to identify ways in which to support a group of volunteers that are neurodiverse so that they and the organisation gain maximum benefit from their volunteering experience (for example: creating a Wellbeing Action Plan to identify and mitigate potential triggers).
