Earners of this badge have demonstrated completed the Proficiency in Security Awareness Duties training which meets with the requirements of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (1978).

Criteria

This badge is only available to Students, Members or Employees.

Earner has completed the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Security Training course, which provides new and experienced crew with necessary knowledge and understanding to carry out security duties onboard a vessel.

Earner has increased awareness of security duties by receiving classroom-based instruction and have demonstrated comprehension and competence through responses to given scenarios.

Earner has heightened their awareness of security and equipped them to become more vigilant when onboard. This increases passenger and crew safety by diffusing and avoiding conflict scenarios on board.

Earner has a comprehensive understanding of ship security and roles and the requirements with respect to maintain ship security. Additionally, earner possesses the ability to recognise and report a security threat. Earners are therefore able to respond individually, and as part of a coordinated team effort to reduce and diffuse conflict whilst on board.
