Female Empowerment Mentor

Ahead Partnership Mentor badges recognise volunteers who have shown significant commitment to developing their Mentoring Skills through sustained and significant work with young people in their community. This badge is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated sustained engagement with the Arcadis Female Empowerment programme, which seeks to specifically support young women in developing their confidence, self-belief and employability skills. Mentors who have engaged in this programme have also supported young women to explore the possibility of a career in STEM and the built environment.

Criteria

Ahead Partnership Volunteers

The individual must demonstrate a sustained commitment to mentoring young people. This commitment is usually evaluated over a period of at least six weeks. During this time, the mentor should be actively engaged in providing guidance and support to young people, helping them navigate challenges, identify their strengths and interests, and facilitate their personal growth.

The individual must make a demonstrable impact on the lives of the young people they mentor. This is measured through the progress of the mentees in various aspects such as improved confidence, self-belief, greater optimism about their future, and increased competency in essential skills such as communication, problem-solving and teamwork. Testimonials, feedback, or case studies could be used as evidence of the mentor's positive impact.

The individual should have developed their knowledge and skills for effective mentoring. This is measured through the progress of the mentor in areas such as communication skills, empathy and understanding of young people, leadership and role modelling. The mentor should be able to adapt their mentoring style to suit the individual needs and circumstances of their mentees.
