Competent Baker

The Baker badge is awarded to trainees who have successfully completed our baking sessions at The Wren Bakery in phase one of their training. Baking sessions are taught to patisserie level 2 with a particular focus on the techniques used for creating the cakes and pastries we sell in our cafe. This badge serves as recognition of the skills and competence they have acquired in their training.

Wren Bakery trainees

Organisation and coordination in the kitchen, prep your ingredients, apply kitchen hygiene rules
Attention to detail, follow the recipe, use the right tools, measure correctly
Patience under pressure
Creativity with flavour and texture
Confidently using the 5 basic baking techniques
Knowing and applying the baking terms used in baking
Failure is an option in baking and a learning experience
Decorating counter cakes and small loaf cakes at beginner level
