Earner has volunteered their time to undertake an intensive residency with Periplum CIC. They have demonstrated initiative and commitment by successfully completing a 5-day workshop programme exploring a range of disciplines related to outdoor arts.
Earner has developed skills in artistic direction and site-specific creation. They have mounted their own vignette within groups, based around a heritage fact found in Ormesby Hall, leading to a better understanding of how to make and create work in response to relevant sites and spaces.
Earner has deepened their knowledge of how to create visual impact using many bodies across a large space. They have developed skills in group choreography, performance, and teamwork through large-scale movement, including movement within space, movement in relation to ensemble working, and the use of props within large-scale spectacle.
Earner has increased their knowledge of sound design and music production, how it relates to creating outdoor arts, and how to create engaging, responsive soundscapes. They have explored recording soundscapes, how to weave live sound with text, and effective writing for recorded media.
Earner has taken part in a fire and pyrotechnics training day alongside a presentation evening to create their own fire gardens in outdoor spaces, deepening their knowledge of health and safety when working in the outdoors. They have explored how to use fire safely, how to create large fire candles, and how to use fire light in the context of the outdoors.
Earner has learnt how to mount a work in an outdoor public space and what sort of production management would be required at an event. This included micro-workshops around fundraising, partnership development, marketing, and promotion, including an exploratory workshop dealing exploring how to bring the finished Fire Gardens to the public.
