Supported Internship T2

The Supported Internship programme provides valuable work experience and practical training for individuals with learning difficulties or disabilities. Term 2 focuses on deepening the knowledge and skills developed in the previous term while introducing new responsibilities and tasks. Participants gradually take on more challenging roles, improving their employability skills and fostering greater independence. Through regular feedback and reflection, they refine their capabilities and gain confidence in the workplace environment, preparing them for future employment opportunities.

Criteria

Participants must complete a set amount of work experience during Term 2. This work experience should build upon the skills and knowledge gained in the first term, introducing more advanced tasks and responsibilities. The participant will be required to demonstrate increased independence, initiative, and adaptability within their role. Their Job Coach will meet with the learner regularly to review and feedback on performance.
Participants must attend a series of weekly training workshops designed to enhance their employability skills. Topics will include advanced communication techniques, problem-solving strategies, and time management. These workshops are interactive, and participants will be asked to engage in group discussions, role-plays, and practical exercises. Each participant will also work on their Maths and English skills on a weekly basis through set lessons.
During Term 2, the Interns will complete 5 specific skills relating to their placement, this could be; customer service, use of equipment, trade/construction skills. At the end of Term 2, participants will have a review by their workplace supervisor and Job Coach. This assessment will evaluate their progress, focusing on key areas such as skill development, workplace behaviour, and overall performance, as well as guidance on areas for further improvement.
