Earners of this badge have visited a working court and learnt about the how the law and justice system works, the differences in law, the various courtroom roles and other legal occupations. They will have examined and prepared a real case to re-enact as a mock trial within the courtroom taking on all the courtroom roles from judge to jurors. This badge is suitable for KS2 & KS3 students.

Criteria

Earner has been part of a group students who participated in a workshop at a working court in Bradford
Earner has gained hands-on experience in preparing and presenting a trial, understanding courtroom procedures, and exploring sentencing options, to gain practical understanding of the legal system.
Earner has through debating evidence and reaching a verdict, the earner will enhance their critical thinking and analytical abilities.
Earner has learned about various legal careers and gain insights into the role of a judge through direct interaction. By taking on different courtroom roles, the earner will develop their communication and teamwork skills.
Earner has learnt about the history of law in this country and why we have laws and were able to answer and ask questions around the law.
Earner has had direct interaction with a judge/and or legal professional, discovering their day to day role and being able to have the opportunity to ask questions directly to them.
