Level 1 Bikeability Award Year 3

The Level 1 Bikeability Award was designed to introduce beginners to the fundamental skills of cycling in a safe and controlled environment. Participants learned how to prepare themselves and their bicycles for cycling, mastered basic bike handling skills, and gained confidence in riding in a traffic-free setting. This award served as a foundation for further cycling proficiency.

Criteria

Complete a training session covering basic bike handling skills, including starting, stopping, and manoeuvring in a controlled environment.

Demonstrate the ability to perform a simple bike safety check to ensure the bicycle is roadworthy before riding.

Participate in practical exercises that build confidence in riding a bicycle in a traffic-free setting, under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
