Earners of this badge have successfully participated in five days work experience with Network Rail, shadowing at least two different roles. This badge forms part of the transport, distribution and logistics pathway and is applicable for post 16 earners.

Criteria

Only available to students, members, or employees

Earner has volunteered and successfully completed a short term work placement at Network Rail

Earner has participated in an induction and agreed to adhere to the employer’s workplace policies. They have a good understanding of the health and safety policies and is aware of their own responsibilities

Earner has gained an understanding of how Signaling Operations works and has observed a signaler signaling trains. They have increased their awareness of how the signaling process works and has increased their knowledge and understanding of how the Control function works and how Network Rail respond to incidents.

Earner has increased their knowledge and understanding of how the Maintenance function works and how Network Rail can maintain the track and signaling assets.

Earner has demonstrated curiosity asking questions to clarify their understanding of the different processes in Operations and Maintenance.

Earner has shown good punctuality and organisation by successfully planning their travel to and from the work location and attending every day of the placement.
