The Advanced PSP Latin - Excelsa accreditation celebrates individuals who demonstrated exceptional proficiency in Latin language, literature, and culture. Participants not only achieved fluency in Latin but also developed the ability to think and write with scholarly depth, preparing them for further academic pursuits in Classics. Holders mastered Latin grammar and syntax, engaged deeply with major literary texts, and pursued independent research, showcasing their commitment to the subject. They also played a wider role in contributing to Latin and Classics scholarship across the WHS community, mentoring younger students, leading talks and societies, passing on their innate love of the subject to others.

Criteria

Students of Wimbledon High School GDST

Produced sophisticated, original responses that demonstrated mastery of Latin language, genre, and context, including academic referencing and comparative literary insight.

Led or supported the department through mentoring, enrichment, or outreach, contributing frequently to academic culture beyond the classroom, such as essay prizes and presentations.

Engaged with advanced Latin texts or scholarship independently, demonstrating a clear commitment to continuing study of the subject through activities like summer schools and extended essays.
