Foundation PSP Music - Excelsa

Excelsa students display exceptional musical skill, creativity, and leadership for their age. They produce compositions and performances of outstanding quality, showing technical control, stylistic awareness, and a sophisticated understanding of musical structure. Many perform at Grade 5 level or above and play a leading role in school music-making, ensembles, or competitions.

Their work shows sustained independent effort, critical reflection, and an ability to elevate group projects. These students are emerging musical leaders, helping shape the cultural life of the year group through performance, mentoring, or innovation.

Outstanding Musical Output - Produces technically assured and expressive performances or compositions that exceed age expectations. Demonstrates control, flair, and musical understanding.
Leadership and Mentorship - Inspires others through leadership in rehearsals, ensembles, or musical events. Shows initiative in musical outreach, innovation, or group organisation.
Scholarly and Cultural Engagement - Engages with music outside the classroom — through national competitions, independent practice, or personal projects. Contributes visibly to the school’s musical culture.
