Students working at this level have a secure grasp of the GCSE Music curriculum and demonstrate consistent commitment to their musical development. They compose using standard tonal techniques, perform solo and in ensemble contexts (typically at around ABRSM Grade 5 standard), and apply analytical listening skills to a range of set works and unfamiliar pieces. Their participation in co-curricular ensembles and performances enhances their musicianship and experience of music-making beyond the classroom. They meet coursework deadlines and reflect with increasing insight on their compositional and performance decisions.
