Advanced PSP Music
Students accredited at this level demonstrate consistent engagement with all aspects of the A Level Music curriculum: performance, composition, and appraising. They rehearse and perform independently to a confident standard (typically ABRSM Grade 8), showing musical sensitivity and technical control. Their compositions demonstrate understanding of style, structure, and instrumentation, meeting or exceeding A Level expectations. Through in-class analysis and personal study, they engage critically with a wide range of repertoire — from Baroque concerto to contemporary film music — and begin to articulate informed, comparative judgments.
They contribute regularly to the musical life of the school, performing in concerts and ensembles, and take ownership of their musical development through sustained practice, goal-setting, and reflection.
