This badge recognised the Accredited OCN Level 2 qualification in mentoring practice with coaching tailored to the shipbuilding and refurbishment sector. It validated that the holder had completed structured learning, demonstrated practical mentoring and coaching skills in maritime workplaces, and complied with sector-specific safeguarding and health and safety standards to support workforce development.

Criteria

Completed the accredited OCN Level 2 mentoring practice with coaching course, including scheduled taught units and practical workshops that covered mentoring models, coaching techniques, safeguarding, and industry health and safety relevant to shipbuilding and refurbishment. Evidence of attendance and tutor feedback was required.

Demonstrated competence via assessment tasks and a workplace portfolio containing recorded mentoring sessions, reflective logs and supervisor statements showing applied coaching methods within shipbuilding or refurbishment settings, meeting OCN assessment standards and occupational benchmarks.

Achieved the qualification award by meeting all OCN criteria, including a final verified assessment, completed paperwork for accreditation, and endorsement from an employer or training provider confirming the candidate had safely mentored colleagues on-site.
