LEGO Spike Prime Unit 4 - Competition Ready

The Competition Ready badge introduces learners to the world of robotics competitions as they learn the foundations of building and programming autonomous robots using sensors. They construct a Practice Driving Base capable of precise, controlled movements and apply sensors to control motors and interact with objects on the competition field. Learners write programs using the Colour Sensor to make their robot autonomous and use My Blocks to create organised, reliable code for an advanced Driving Base.

Throughout the unit, they work collaboratively to build and present a strong competition-ready robot, coaching teammates through a real FIRST LEGO League mission and preparing for the challenges ahead. Learners design and build motorised tools to complete competition-style tasks, then use controlled movements, sensors, and structured programs to solve a timed practice challenge. By developing mission strategy skills and applying the full design process, learners create innovative solutions while strengthening teamwork, problem-solving, and future-ready STEM competencies.

Aimed at Years 7-9 or Key Stage 3
