This badge recognised demonstrated ability to teach through a structured observed lesson. Candidates were assessed on clear communication, effective task structuring and timely fault correction with a learner present. It evidenced practical teaching skills, adaptive feedback and classroom rapport, showing readiness to lead small learning sessions and support learner progress.

Criteria

Design and submit a lesson plan that outlined learning objectives, timings, resources and assessment checks. The plan demonstrated appropriate sequencing and differentiation to meet the needs of the observed pupil.

Deliver a live, observed lesson to a real pupil or an examiner acting as a pupil. The session was observed to assess clarity of instruction, pacing, engagement strategies and use of questioning to check understanding.

Provide and record a reflective analysis and evidence of fault correction strategies used during the lesson, including examples of adaptive feedback given to the pupil and adjustments made in response to learner needs.
