Criteria

Earner has learned how the glass furnace is operated on a 24 hour basis, learnt about the operatives and their role and how the tasks are managed. Earners were able to access the control room where 24 hour monitoring occurs, and learn more about the skills required to do the monitoring roles.

Earners were made aware of the special protective clothing that some employees wore who had more of a dangerous role. Roles were explored by earners questioning and listening actively, they had to collaborate with staff as health and safety was paramount. Earners were given a presentation at the beginning and at the end returned to reflect on their learning.

Earners were asked questions where critical thinking and problem solving was used, and likewise earners used their own initiative to ask pertinent questions. Earners learnt about team work and how important that was as an employee.

Earner has demonstrated active listening to ensure they understand the information and instructions for Health and safety
