Girls into Sport
In this pathway, the learner will first engage with community initiatives promoting girls' participation in sports, gaining insights into inclusivity and social change through sports. These local experiences, coupled with informative sessions on the sports industry, provide a foundational understanding of sports management and career opportunities.
The Careers and Technical Education team at SkillsHouse in collaboration with, The Bradford Bulls Foundation, Bradford College, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, The West Riding County Football Association and Dance for Life have created this pathway which provides a route into the Hospitality, Recreation and Sport sector for individuals considering a career within the Sports industry.
In this pathway, the learner will first engage with community initiatives promoting girls' participation in sports, gaining insights into inclusivity and social change through sports. These local experiences, coupled with informative sessions on the sports industry, provide a foundational understanding of sports management and career opportunities.
The pathway also provides an opportunity to develop employability skills before then growing your knowledge about the Sport sector. Beneficiaries of the pathway will then have the opportunity to develop technical and specialist Sport industry skills such as developing a knowledge and understanding of different coaching techniques from a range of elite sport clubs as well as learning about the next steps and varied routes into a successful career in the Sports industry.
Progressing to becoming a sports ambassador and enrolling in The Open University's 'Exploring Sports Coaching' course, the learner will develop essential leadership and communication skills. The course offers in-depth knowledge in sports coaching, including practical methodologies and team management, equipping them with the tools to become proficient sports professionals capable of guiding and mentoring emerging athletes.
This pathway is open to Bradford, District and Craven residents and is aimed at students in secondary school through to post 16 education and beyond.
