Military Experience Days (KS4+5)

Earners who wanted to explore what it is like to be in the military, were able to participate in activities relative to the armed forces. The earners spent time with officers from all three forces, Army, RAF and the Navy.

Earners were split into groups and remained with their group for the duration of the programme. On arrival earners were made aware of the programme and initially were introduced to all staff, who were serving military, or ex-military.

whilst participating in both mental and physical activities, they were able to practice necessary skills such as, teamwork and collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, active listening, communication of all types including technical equipment.

For fifty percent of their time, earners were given given physical assessments throughout the programme, and dependent on which of the armed forces you were interested in, they had various levels of fitness that are a requirement of the application process.

Earners were introduced to weaponry, and daily drill requirements where dummy rifles replaced the real thing. Earners learnt about health and safety and other relevant policies. Earners were also given many opportunities to speak to acting miliary about there job and what it was like to be away from home.

Earners learnt about the qualifications and skills they needed to apply for any of the armed forces, and learnt about the support they could receive by attending the military academy.
