Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
Only available to students of Wimbledon High School GDST.
Challenge. Growth. Leadership.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Wimbledon High offers students the opportunity to develop resilience, leadership, and a spirit of adventure through one of the UK’s most respected and widely recognised youth development programmes.
Across three levels — Bronze, Silver, and Gold — students are challenged to step outside their comfort zones, serve their communities, develop new skills, and work together to navigate real-world challenges.
Each stage of the DofE journey is designed to foster a deeper commitment to personal growth, practical skills, and community engagement:
🥉 Bronze Award
Building Foundations
Students undertake activities across volunteering, physical activity, skill development, and expedition. The focus is on participation, discovery, and developing the habits of commitment and perseverance.
🥈 Silver Award
Deepening Skills
At Silver, students stretch themselves further — extending their commitment, taking greater responsibility, and balancing independent challenge with teamwork. The experience builds confidence and prepares them for greater leadership.
🥇 Gold Award
Leadership and Independence
The pinnacle of the Award, Gold demands sustained personal commitment, leadership, resilience, and initiative — including a Residential experience. Completion of the Gold Award is a nationally recognised mark of excellence and is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
