This badge has been achieved through attendance at a pre-employment programme which has lasted 1 – 4 weeks. Pre-employment programmes provide an opportunity for learners to explore careers within the health and care system.
Knowledge of the key skills that are important in the health and care sector such as active listening (engage, ask questions and summarise point to ensure understanding), using clear and simple language, empathy, importance of adapting communication style, use of non-verbal communication and feedback and reflection including importance of constructive feedback.
Knowledge around the importance of understanding audience, being culturally aware, including recognition of barriers to communication.
Knowledge of key behaviours when communicating including being professional and acting with respect and open-mindedness.
