Discipline and Grievance (Seminar)

This badge was issued to Louise Fox on 05 June 2026.

This seminar provides practical guidance on managing discipline and grievance issues fairly, consistently and in line with best practice in Northern Ireland. Using real case law, group discussion and scenario-based learning, participants will explore how disciplinary and grievance decisions are assessed by tribunals, the importance of context and managerial intervention, and the role of policies, procedures and the Labour Relations Agency Code of Practice.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

• Understand when dismissal is likely to be considered fair

• How to apply informal and formal resolution approaches appropriately, and

• How to conduct disciplinary meetings, appeals and grievance processes with confidence.

Participants will leave better equipped to make sound, legally defensible decisions, minimise risk, and handle workplace issues in a way that supports fairness, employee relations and organisational effectiveness.
