This badge is awarded to Year 12 pupils who:

Read a challenging academic or non-fiction text

Create a book review in written or presentation format

Summarise the book’s ideas while describing their own reading experience

Show strong critical thinking and communication skills

A chance to share your perspective on an inspiring or thought-provoking book

💡 How to Take Part

Choose Your Book – Select a non-fiction or academic text that challenges you.

Read & Take Notes – Jot down key themes, important details, and your thoughts as you read.

Include the Essentials – Your review should cover:

The title and year of publication

The author’s name

The genre (e.g., biography, autobiography, history, science)

The main subject, plot, or theme

A brief summary of the key points or ideas

Share Your Opinion – Discuss what you found engaging, confusing, strong, or weak in the book.

Highlight Themes – Identify the big ideas the book explores and explain why they matter.

Use Quotes (Optional) – Add short quotations that support your review.

Present Your Work – Submit it as either:

A written book review

A presentation (PowerPoint, recorded video, etc.)

Submit to Mrs Graham using firefly before the deadline.

Read deeply. Think critically. Share your journey.
