Foundation PSP French
Students accredited in Foundation PSP French demonstrate confident engagement with the core skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They can understand and produce simple sentences about familiar topics such as identity, family, pets, school, home, hobbies, and food. They use memorised language and learned structures — including the present tense, adjective agreement, negatives, and reflexive verbs — to build short dialogues, role plays, and written descriptions.
Phonics, spelling, and pronunciation are taught explicitly to support spoken fluency and accuracy. Students begin to express opinions and connect ideas using simple conjunctions and time markers. They explore French culture through celebrations, music, and classroom conversation, and begin to reflect on differences in language use and lifestyle. By the end of Year 8, they can communicate clearly on familiar topics and have the foundation needed for extended expression in Pathways PSP.
