Pathways PSP Computer Science - Excelsa
Excelsa students demonstrate exceptional technical mastery, leadership, and creative drive in computing. They construct complex, multi-component programs using advanced Python (e.g. file handling, error trapping, nested structures, and user-defined procedures), and can manipulate structured data in spreadsheets or databases. Their algorithmic thinking is evident in the way they plan and decompose large-scale problems.
They often design their own independent computing projects (e.g. quiz apps, data trackers, websites), participate at national level in competitions like the Perse Coding Challenge or CyberFirst, and may lead co-curricular activities or junior mentoring. Their knowledge of emerging technologies is underpinned by critical awareness of ethical, legal and cultural issues in computing, and they contribute confidently to discussions about AI, surveillance, bias, and equity in tech.
