Advanced PSP Computer Science

Advanced PSP students demonstrate confident understanding of core A Level Computer Science concepts, including programming constructs, computational theory, data representation, and systems architecture. They complete the NEA (Non-Examined Assessment) to a secure standard, designing and implementing a working solution using a procedural or object-oriented approach. Their work shows clear logic, functional code, and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.

They engage fully with the curriculum, respond thoughtfully to feedback, and participate in class discussions. Many apply algorithmic thinking to unfamiliar problems and begin to use basic data structures such as arrays and records to build efficient solutions.

Criteria

Students of Wimbledon High School GDST

Functional Programming Proficiency - Produces working code using taught constructs (procedures, iteration, selection, basic data structures) with clear logic and accurate syntax.
NEA Project Development and Evaluation - Completes a working NEA solution with clear planning, appropriate testing, and a structured evaluation of strengths and limitations.
Conceptual and Theoretical Understanding - Demonstrates secure knowledge of key A Level theory (e.g. algorithms, data representation, networks, system software) in written assessments and discussion.
