Learners had completed online classes and passed externally verified examinations to achieve a Level 2 Essential Skills qualification in either Numeracy or Literacy. The badge recognised that they had demonstrated competence at the required standard, evidencing practical ability to apply core numeracy or literacy skills in everyday, work and learning contexts and had met external verification and quality assurance processes.

Enrolment and active participation in a structured online Level 2 Essential Skills course in either Numeracy or Literacy, demonstrating consistent engagement with course materials, activities and tutor-led sessions over the programme duration.
Successful completion of formative and summative assessments during the programme, including submitted coursework or practical tasks that showed applied competence in the selected skill area and met provider progression requirements.
Passing externally verified final examinations or assessments at the required Level 2 standard, confirmed by an accredited external verifier, and receipt of the official Level 2 qualification certification.
