Earners of this badge have attended Day 5 of the The Emerging Entrepreneurs Summer School, in which they explored the viability of entrepreneurship as a career and built on the key skills required of founders. Earners have pitched their business ideas to a crowd of successful entrepreneurs, and looked at the next steps of their business idea.

Criteria

Earner has successfully completed the ‘Becoming a Leader and Embracing Innovation’ badge.

Earner has successfully completed the ‘Building a Business (Market Research & Validation) badge.

Earner has successfully completed the ‘Marketing, Selling & Evolving’ badge.

Earner has successfully completed the ‘Getting Pitch Perfect’ badge.

Earner has explored financial capability and the viability of starting their own business by looking at their next steps after finishing this summer school, what help and support is available locally, for example who their investors or funders may be.

Earner has built upon the key skills required of founders; they have done this by taking part in workshops and hearing from successful local founders, demonstrating their listening skills and active learning. These workshops looked at ambition and impact, investments and exits in the start-up world.

Earner has developed their teamwork and Innovative/ Creativity skills through taking part in activities to come up with ideas for advanced technology with Brendan Lowry from Digital Catapult, who helped the earner to look at accelerating new possibilities with advanced digital technologies through their business ideas. Earner has looked to discover new ways of solving industry challenges, increase productivity, and open into new markets.

Earner has applied business and new product development knowledge gained throughout the summer school to finalise their business pitch.

Earner has gained experience of presentations by pitching their business ideas and business canvas to a crowd of successful entrepreneurs. Through their pitch they demonstrated confidence and the ability to communicate their ideas.

Earner has demonstrated resilience by receiving constructive feedback on their pitch. They have reflected on areas for future improvement when pitching their ideas to investors and funders.
