Hospitality Careers Preparation for Post 16 students
The Careers and Technical Education team at SkillsHouse, in collaboration with The Great Victoria Hotel, Bradford, Shipley College, and key hospitality partners across the district, have developed this pathway to help individuals prepare for a career in the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industry.
The Hospitality sector is all around us—from cafés and fine dining restaurants to cruise ships, hotels, and student accommodation. As people return to making memories in small groups, the sector continues to grow and evolve. This Hospitality Pathway offers learners the chance to build a diverse range of skills, supported by Digital Skills Badges, to aid career development and readiness for roles in the industry.
The pathway begins with employability initiatives designed to build confidence and essential skills in young people interested in hospitality. These local experiences, combined with informative sessions, provide a strong foundation in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism management and career pathways.
Participants will then deepen their understanding of the sector through the prestigious ‘Hotel Take Over’ project, gaining insight into the wide variety of roles within a large hotel, as well as developing technical and specialist skills in areas such as culinary arts and customer service. Learners will also explore the next steps and routes into a successful career in hospitality.
This pathway is open to residents of Bradford, District and Craven, and is aimed at students from secondary school through to post-16 education and beyond.
